Alcon, global leader in the design, development and manufacture of high performance brake, clutch & actuation systems, announced today the signing of British professional driver Harrison Newey as athlete and brand ambassador. Newey, who will race for SMP Racing at Le Mans 24 Hours, will bring the same passion and dedication to Alcon as he does to competing on the track behind the wheel of a Dallara-Gibson LMP2.
Aged 19, Newey has been a promising driving talent since 2007. From the age of 8 and up until 2014, Harrison Newey raced go-karts in the World Championship, World Super Cup, German Championship as well as the British Championship. He made his ADAC Formula 4 debut in 2015, partnering with Mick Schumacher, son of world champion driver Michael Schumacher, at Van Amersfoort Racing. He also competed in BRDC Formula 4 alongside his ADAC F4 campaign and ended up being crowned vice champion in 2015. Newey has since raced in MRF F2000, FIA European Formula 3 and won the 2017/2018 Asian Le Mans Series with Jackie Chan DC Racing. With a plethora of both sports car and single seater experience, Newey is a perfect fit for Alcon.
“We are delighted to welcome Harrison Newey as a brand ambassador. Alcon has racing in its DNA, so does Newey, we are really excited to be supporting such a fantastic, talented and charismatic racing driver”, commented Jonathan Edwards, Group Sales Director at Alcon. “I’m looking forward to seeing him in action at the 24 Hours of Le Mans later this month.”
When not competing, Newey will join the Alcon team at some of their events including Brakes & Breakfast and Goodwood Festival of Speed next month.
